My Favorite Wedding Venues in Champaign, IL
Industrial Charm, Vintage Glamour & Everything in Between
As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing love stories all across Illinois—but there’s something special about Champaign. This town has a perfect blend of historic charm and modern character, especially when it comes to wedding venues. Today I want to share three of my favorite venues in Champaign: The Venue CU, Carmon’s, and The Orpheum. Each has its own unique vibe, and if you're planning a wedding in the area, these spots are definitely worth checking out.
The Venue CU – Industrial Elegance with Urban Edge
Tucked right in the heart of downtown Champaign, The Venue CU brings together history and modern style in the best way possible. Before it became one of the city’s most sought-after wedding venues, this building was home to the beloved Varsity Theater and Vriner’s Confectionery. Today, that history still lingers in the bones of the space, adding a nostalgic charm to its urban-industrial edge.
Inside, you’ll find exposed brick, high ceilings, and a wide-open floor plan that gives couples tons of creative freedom to make the space their own. Whether you're planning something sleek and modern or romantic and vintage-inspired, The Venue CU offers a versatile backdrop with built-in character. And knowing you’re dancing the night away in a place that’s been part of Champaign’s story for over a century? That just makes it all the more special.
Carmon’s – A Blank Canvas with Soul
Carmon’s is another gem housed in a beautifully repurposed industrial space. It’s got that same exposed brick and warehouse aesthetic. One thing I love about Carmon’s is how versatile it is—you can dress it up with luxe florals and chandeliers or keep it simple and let the character of the space speak for itself. It’s truly a photographer’s playground, with so many textures and backdrops to work with.
The Orpheum – Vintage Glamour in a Historic Theater
And then there's The Orpheum. Ohhh, The Orpheum. This historic theater turned event venue is pure magic. From the ornate architecture to the dramatic stage and balcony seating, it’s a venue that brings instant vintage glamour to your wedding day. If you’re the kind of couple who loves old Hollywood or has a flair for the dramatic, this is the spot. The Orpheum is more than a venue—it’s an experience. And from a visual standpoint? Absolutely breathtaking.
Final Thoughts
Each of these venues has its own personality, and honestly, I can’t pick a favorite—they’re all so good in different ways. Whether you're drawn to industrial charm, vintage drama, or somewhere in between, Champaign has the perfect space for your “I do.” And wherever you end up, just know I’d be thrilled to capture every moment of it.
If you're still deciding on a venue, feel free to reach out. I’d love to share more and help you imagine what your day could look like!
